Today I wanted to touch a little bit on patience and intentionality especially as it relates to self care.
I have heard people say to me that they have bought candles, face masks, body products and all sorts of self-care items, spent time using them and have felt no different. Nothing really changed or the feeling was short lived!
I always respond by asking the number of times they did their "little routine", and the response is never more than 3 times. After a few more questions, they usually come face to face with the reality that they are impatient and are not intentional or even sure about what they want to achieve. Can you relate to this ? I certainly can!
When I just started on my self care journey, I did not understand that it was far more than just some external act and taking care of my physical need. So I did exactly what a lot of people are doing! I bought a lot of self-care items and expected some radical shift to happen after lighting a candle, having a glass of wine, and listening to music or eating some fancy things. And when that short-lived high wore off, I was back to being the stressed out and unhappy person I was.
I've since learnt that self-care is also about taking care of my emotional, mental, and spiritual needs. And it is a never-ending process that requires a conscious effort (intent) to prioritize our well-being!
More importantly, It takes time to see the benefits so you must be patient. It is not an overnight fix. It's a continuous process that involves making lifestyle changes, developing healthy habits, and learning to manage external triggers and emotions. It requires you to unlearn things you held as truth and adapt different thought patterns to build an new mindset.
Your self-care routine should never have you going through the motions.
So as you get serious about building wealth (the h is intentional), I am encouraging you to become much more intentional with your actions. Clarify your values and goals and focus on making choices that align with them. This helps you to you stay focused on what's important, and it gives you the motivation to keep going even when obstacles present themselves.
Through prioritizing your well-being and taking care of yourself, you can transform your life and create a better, whealthier, and more fulfilling future for yourself.
